Pride and Prejudice adapted by Gemma Barder

    Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen which is adapted by Gemma Barder was really a nice read with a lot of illustrations. I loved reading it. This is absolutely a part of Jane Austen Children's stories which is with very simple writing and in a readable format for children and beginners.

I have not read the original version of the Pride and Prejudice and wish to read it soon as it is in my kindle and will soon give a review on it too. This version made me to think of reading the original version too. 

This is too well written and I loved it. The story of Mrs. Bennet her 5 daughters. I really loved Lizzy(Elizabeth) who is the main character and second daughter of Mrs.Bennet. I feel everyone should have a friend like Mr. Darcy and a sister like Miss. Elizabeth Bennet.

I enjoyed the illustrations in this book and when I started reading I can't stop and completed in an hour or less.

Absolute Read for Beginners

    I am a stock market retail investor for more than a year. I learned everything through many courses and videos available on the internet and some through my personal experience. I really want to know what is explained in this book so I started reading. The writing was simple and the author has described what are the necessary terms and concepts to be known before investing in a stock market. He not only spoke about the stock market, but he also said about mutual funds, bonds that were really good. There are different ways to diversify the saving, the stock market is not the only way. I too started knowing about bonds and other forms of investment after entering the stock market. The risk is based on the type of investment and amount of knowledge you have on it.

This is a 1-hour read and all necessary concepts for starting the investments are mentioned. It is difficult to earn and easy to spend so we should use what we get wisely. Saving first and keeping aside some amount for emergency and investing in different assets is a good idea. 

No one cares your money as much as you do !!!

The Beginning of Mahabharata

     The Fisher Queen's Dynasty by Kavita Kane is really a good read for mythology lovers. I loved the portrayal of Satyavati. A girl who was born as a princess and brought up as a fisher girl who became a queen of a large kingdom. Satyavati was also known as Kali and Matsyagandha and later Yojanagandha and also after becoming a queen for a few years she was known as Queen Daseyi and later Queen Satyavati.

She was the daughter of the king of Chedi Uparichar Vasu. She had a twin brother who was taken to the kingdom. The king abandoned her and she was brought by a man called Dasharaj who was the Chieftain of the fishermen's. 

Satyavati was so ambitious and different than others and had a hatred for her father who abandoned her. She became Yojanagandha after getting boon from Parahsar and was an immortal beauty and youthfulness. She gave birth to Veda Vyasa and gave him back to Parashar. She used her beauty and youth to get what she wants but she was not the one who made Devavrat take a terrible oath it was her father Dasharaj and this brought a pang of guilt which she had throughout her life.

I loved the friendship between Bhishm and Satyavati. This book is called Fisher Queen dynasty because the kuru dynasty ended with celibate Bhishm and his stepbrothers Chitragand and Virya. The niyog to Ambika and Ambalika was done by Vyasa who was her son who created a new lineage.

Satyavati had only aim of having heirs to safeguard the kingdom of Hastinapur which ended in the war between their own family.

The book is not a complete Mahabharata till Kurukshetra war. It ends with new lineage born - Dhritharashra, Pandu and Vidura. I loved reading the book. The above summary has described very few things there are a lot more!!

Rich Dad Poor Dad: Review

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is a book that gives you an idea of how much the financial literacy matters. Robert says his friend's dad as a rich dad and his dad has a poor dad. He started gaining financial knowledge from his rich dad during his childhood. We can't get financial literacy from school or college, they never teach us about it few who graduated finance have financial literacy. His rich dad knows how to make money work for him but his poor dad works for money. Robert's dad will blame the government or his school for not giving an increment with promotion and his crisis while his rich dad changed his thought.  Robert was a man from a middle-income family who started thinking the way rich thinks and became rich.

He gives us simple examples to understand the difference between assets and liabilities. Some times we buy certain things as an asset but it is a liability. There are a lot of things he makes us understand and work for our financial freedom.

This is the book I read in 2019 which made me to take step towards my financial freedom. This is an easy read with lucid writing. I think everyone in their 20's and 30's should read it. Financial literacy is very important, this book gives you the thirst to learn more to become financial literate and attain financial freedom.

Love Your Body: Review

Love Your Body by Jessica Sanders is all about Self-Care and Self-Love. Many of us have lower self-esteem from inside and outside. Everyone is unique but we all sometimes think to look like others. Some are lean, some are chubby, some are short, some are very tall. Everyone will not be the same from inside and outside. We should love ourselves for what we are. 

The author gives a lot of ideas to love oneself and to have more time with the body and soul to appreciate what we are doing with it. There are a lot of illustrations makes us understand how each should love themselves.

This is a small book with 21 pages under children genre but I think everyone should read it. This will give everyone a good feel because at some point of time in life we may low self-esteem thinking we are not good from inside and outside.

The Girl in Room 105: Review

The Girl in Room 105 by Chetan Bhagat is a Crime Thriller. The girls who live in room 105 of Himadri hostel in IIT Delhi is Zara, she is an ex-girlfriend of Keshav who is a teacher at JEE Institute. Now she is the girlfriend of Raghu. It has been four years since there breakup but Keshav can't move over and disturbs her but with the help of his friend Saurabh he tries to recover. One day a message from Zara that makes him visit Zara. When he went into her room, she was dead with a red mark in her neck. Keshav informs the police, Rana is the policeman who investigates the case.  The watchman of Himadri hostel was jailed for the murder but Keshav's instinct says the watchman is not the murderer and says to Rana. 

Rana accused the watchman as the murderer because he needs promotion, but he said if Keshav finds the culprit surely he will help him. Apart from Raghu Zara had an affair with her school senior Faiz who was a married man working in Military, Keshav identifies many things about Zara finds some stuff from her locker which help him in the investigation. Raghu shows Keshav a mail where she berates Saxena. How she is suffering because of his torcher. First, he thinks Professor Saxena as the murdered because he said Zara to sleep with him so that he will help in completing her PhD. Keshav thinks Safdar, Zara's dad as the murderer as there is a chance of honour killing as she loved a Hindu man. Then they thought Sikander as the murderer who is a stepbrother who was close to her and was a part of the terrorist group. Zara often advises Sikander to get a job and come out of it. So maybe Sikander has killed her. Then he finds out her affair with Faiz and thinks he may have killed her. Keshav and Zara's dad plan to have a prayer to make the murderer come home and it was surprising for Safdar who he thought as the murderer was no the murderer. The climax had a twist as I thought.

The ending was predictable from the prologue continued in the mid of the story. I liked it. This book was so easy to read with lucid writing. This story gives me an idea of how Kashmiris suffer because of the frequent terrorist attack. Sometimes no connection to the world, The whole Indian State and UT are in peace except the Kashmir.]

I enjoyed this book. This is the first book I read from the author Chetan Bhagat. Wish to read his new release India Positive and other books by him.

The Palace of Illusions

The Palace of Illusions is the Mahabharatha from the perspective of Panchali written by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. I loved this book. The Palace of Illusion is the Palace where Panchali was a mistress, the palace in Indraprastha which was a reason for her humiliation before the Sabha in Hastinapura.

Panchali, an uninvited member to King Drupad's family from the sacred fire. The ritual was carried out to get a son to fulfil his vengeance of killing Dronacharya. She was not a gift, she is the one who paved the way for fulfilling his vengeance. She never got a mother's love, even her father visited her rarely. She yearned for love. The only two persons who were close to her was Dhai Ma and her brother Dhristadyumna. Krishna visits her often and he was her close friend.

Krishna calls Panchaali as Krishnaa, the female version of him. She once came to know about a fortune teller and visited him. He was Vyasa. Vyasa said her she will marry 5 men and will be a cause of war, Kurushetra but she doesn't believe his prophecy.

She always wants to be loved but she doesn't get the love she sought from Arjun as he married all her brothers. she sometimes thinks if she had married Karna she may have got the love she yearned. She is the thread that always makes Pandavas united and stay together. Pandavas never argue with their mother and believe in her words so Kunti took it as an advantage and doesn't take back the words and made Panchali marry Pandavas.

The one thing that we should see is that Pandavas had a lot of wives but they all never stayed with them except Panchali and even she is the only one with them in all their journey in life. She was with them in tough and happiest moments in their life. She chose to go with them to exile and to mahaprastha.

I just wish to have a friend like Krishna who came to rescue her when her husbands and all men in her family were standing quiet, seeing Dushasana humiliating her. Loved the book from the perspective of a woman.

She was a strong woman. She always wanted to rebel against the boundaries society has prescribed for women. She even took part in political matters and helped Yudhustira. She created a sabha to help women in Hastinapura after the Kurukshetra.

I really loved her writing. I can't just stop reading, completed within days. The story we know, heard from the parents, watched as a movie, series, narration in temples, but reading from the perspective from Panchaali made me love this book.
