Valmiki’s women are five tales of ramayana. The retelling of the story from the perspective of other characters was so good and I loved it. I really didn't know about the existence of Shanta in Ramayana till I read this. She is the eldest child of King Dasharatha.
I heard the story of how Kaikeyi became the foster daughter of Manthara. The way the Mantara was portrayed really makes you love the negative character of Ramayana. She did nothing like they blamed to suffer a lot. It was Kaikeyi’s decision, Mantara loved Bharata like his grandson but no one cared about her. Just read this chapter which has some reality mentioned. The words of the rich are believed.
The story of Tataka from the eyes of Maricha and his vengeance was really nothing wrong. The winners are always portrayed as good ones and the losers as the villains of the story with exaggeration whether it is a mythology, history or a movie. If the hero does a wrong thing and justify it, it becomes right. If the same is done by the other person he hates, he is presented in a negative way as villains.
I really felt bad for what happened to Tataka and family. They were not intruders or Rakshasa. They Rishis are the outsiders who come into the forest and do a lot of Yajnas and give animal sacrifices. Saving an animal made her rakshasi. The way Tataka talks really makes you think.
Bhairava’s words are so true..
The story of Meenakshi, the sister of Surpanakha and her talk with Sita and her suffering for loving a man really made me feel. Sita was banished from the kingdom of Rama. If you read you start loving many characters you hated and hate the ones you liked.
I really liked the story from the other side and enjoyed it.
